    Description

The Nut Tree Roadside Restaurant, Stores and Air Port in Vacaville, California, at one time was built around the theme of vintage aviation, featuring unique artwork and spectacular models representing the golden age. As with so many reorganizations, the golden age of aviation-centric theme evolved into more of an outlet type atmosphere, the magnificent models went to the San Francisco Airport Museum and the ephemera was discontinued. This now long out-of-print large 23 3/4 x 35 3/4 inch poster shows the US Navy ZRS 5 Macon flying over New York City. Macon was based at Lakehurst New Jersey, 50 miles away, between April and October 1933 when it went to its new base, Moffett Field in Sunnyvale, California. Guessing based on Nut Tree reorganization in the mid 1980s, it's safe to say this poster is in its mid-30s and holding up well. Overall condition is very good with evidence of some foxing, primarily on the reverse. Other minor wear is commensurate with age. Would mount and frame beautifully if you have room for such a large piece, which I don't, so it's seeking a new home. Mailed in tube.
