Antique Wood Thread Spool Holder Sewing Box Slide Lid (#1)

Please note that I will be separately listing two of these similar boxes today.
This is what I believe to be an antique wood thread or spool holder box. It has a sliding lid.
It measures 7 1/4 inches wide x 10 1/4 inches long x 3 inches high (18.4 cm x 26 cm x 7.6 cm).
When I initially saw this, I thought it was a candle box. When you look inside, you see there are six pegs. I may have the use totally wrong! Please use your judgment.
The box has scattered nicks and dings to the finish. There is some type of scratching/scuffing on the top, though you tend to see this when the light is shining on it at a certain angle.
Overall, it’s a very sturdy box.
It weighs a little over 2 lbs. 2 oz. (972 g).
