KING OSCAR I and QUEEN JOSEPHINE of SWEDEN Table Medal – 1844 CORONATION
Rare table medal commemorating the 1844 coronation of Oscar ! as King of Sweden and Norway.
The Obverse portrays the dual bust of Oscar I and Queen Josphine, while the Obverse highlights the call to the throne under the heading ”Talibus Auspiciis Regna Incepta".
The thick bronze medal was designed by Ludwig Lundgren;
it is 58mm and weighs a very hefty 120 grams.
It has sharp clean rims, terrific detail and a beautiful patina (please see photos).
For certain it will make an excellent addition to any medal collection of European Royalty or Swedish history.
