    Letter of recommendation from the Cleve, Cincy, Chicago & St. Louis RR..
    Although the beautiful handwriting might be a little hard to read, here’s what is written, with just a few punctuation additions.
    Fairmont Indiana June 28, 1893
    To whom it may concern: The bearer, Mr. I. N. Ober has worked for me as an Operator and Bill Clerk. I consider him a careful and trustworthy man. He left the service here in good standing.

    Considering this note is 128 years old it’s in very good condition. Naturally, there are fold lines, and it has dark and a little with age the interesting part is the upper left-hand corner has lots of pin and staple holes. I’m sure it was carried around quite a bit.
