Description
We are offeringThe National Playing Fields Association Inaugural Meeting Programme, July 8, 1925.
With Dust Jacket. 8 1/2" x 11 1/4". 10 pages.
This meeting was held in the presence of Their Royal Highnesses The Duke & Duchess of York at the Royal Albert Hall. The Duke, who would later become King George VI, hosted the meeting and would serve as the first President of the association.
The purpose of this organization was to raise public awareness of the need for adequate playing fields for children living in all sections of communities, to save the few existing open spaces in congested cities and towns to be used for this purpose, and to save existing sports grounds that were under the threat of development for other purposes.
The organization stressed that healthy exercise is essential to the proper development of children - both physically and morally, and the opposite was true of the children that were loafing about the lanes and street corners, or playing in the roads.
CONDITION: The program is, for the most part, in Excellent Condition. It was, however, in a scrapbook and there are spots of paper residue stuck to the back cover from the album page it was on. The dust jacket is in Good Condition, having an edge chip on the back, and paper residue from having been in a scrapbook.
